Forget work, focus on elections, Parameshwara tells ministers

They are assigned one Assembly segment each to ensure Cong win

Bengaluru, Aug 5 (DHNS): Almost the entire council of ministers had descended on the KPCC office on Queen’s Road on Tuesday to chalk out a strategy for the BBMP elections.

State Congress president G Parameshwara had convened a meeting with the ministers who are also acting as the party observers for each of the 28 Assembly constituencies. The ministers are learnt to have apprised the president on the party’s prospects in their constituencies and discussed issues that need to be sorted out before the elections.

Sources said the party was planning to release its first list of candidates on August 6, when the first meeting of the screening committee is scheduled to be held. The committee will be headed by Parameshwara and comprises Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, ministers from Bengaluru and some senior party leaders. The panel is likely to announce candidates for about 100 wards, including those represented by the party corporators in the recently-dissolved BBMP council.

Sources said many of the observers, appointed to sift through the applications seeking party tickets, had already submitted their reports. The observers had been tasked with holding consultations with the block-level workers and shortlisting names of probable candidates. The party has received about 1,300 applications seeking tickets to contest the polls, the sources said.

The KPCC chief is learnt to have directed all the observers to submit the reports by Wednesday evening. The party has taken the elections seriously. All ministers have been told to shelve their work and focus on the polls in the constituencies assigned to them. Efforts should be made to ensure that the party activists work unitedly during the polls, Parameshwara is learnt to have said.

The ministers have been directed to camp in the constituency assigned to them till the elections are over. Five ministers from Bengaluru – Ramalinga Reddy, K J George, Roshan Baig, Dinesh Gundu Rao and Krishna Byre Gowda – have been told to coordinate with other ministers and ensure success of the party.

The KPCC has set up the manifesto committee to prepare a draft of the manifesto. Senior leaders K R Ramesh Kumar, B L Shankar, five ministers from Bengaluru are its members, the sources said.

Absolutely true. History repeats. February 2015, Delhi MLA election, entire BJP Central leadership, Central ministers, MP's canvassed and the result was fantastic. BJP won 3 and AAP won 67 seats out of 70. Great strategy.

Time for the voters to punish these unscrupulous politicians irrespective of party affiliations.

Wish, voters will vote for candidates, who have at least some quality of late Dr. Abdul Kalam, who was a visionary, devoted his entire life for the welfare of our motherland.

Bengaluru is fast becoming traditional stronghold of RSS and BJP. RSS runs 210 shakhas and BJP is winning & sweeping most elections here since 1984 with a popular vote share of 60% plus always

In this BBMP elections too, BJP will triumph & crush the dongis so badly, they will not know what hit them (Same like May 2014 polls)

Na Mo, Congress stopped funding after they took over state in 2013. BBMP budget does not have State provisioning which is a must for its survival. This politicking by Congress most of us in Bengaluru know off. Garbage is the creation of Dongis & Niddramaiah himself could not solve it!

In 2009 BJP got 118 out of 198. 17 MLA seats in city (out of 28) are with the party in addition to all 4 MP seats. This is cause of heartache for Congress & of course people like you to curse BBMP & try to scuttle polls by delaying it...

why you are afraid of BBMP election.

whole nidderamayya govt. is behind BBMP election.

    paramanna ,

three year old girl is getting raped and you people not bothered.

every day dozens of farmers are committing suicide and you people are enjoying .

chain snatching , murders, dacoity, rapes , molestations are happening daily thruout karnataka and your nidderamayya govt. is in deep sleep.

whatever you do BBMP election will be won by BJP.

Great Mr. President! This shows the true color of the dynasty party.....their motto...let development of state go to hell! Only work for election to fool people and mint money till the end of the term and then again work hard for the next elections....This is what is happening ever since we got independence!!! :(

There's a saying that people show interest in something only when there's profit.....so now I imaging how much profit might there be from being part of BBMP! And anyways most of the corporators i've known are either goondas, rowdys or known criminals....and supported by well established parties to contest elections....ha ha haa!

I dream of the day when criminals are in Jail rather than contest elections.

And finally a special thanks for those people of Karnataka who voted this misrule party into power! Charles Babbage once said of computers...if you put in "Garbage" you'll get "Garbage" as output....that applies to our democracy also......So people open your eyes and vote only for honest people and even if the field is comprised only of criminals vote for the better one (rather than abstaining) atleast that would stop the worst from coming to power!

BBMP Elections were not wanted at this stage by Congress as they are destined to loose. Hence they made every effort to scuttle, but in vain

Out of 198 seats, it is difficult for Congress to cross even 50
