Kundapur, Aug 5: In a tragic accident which occurred a Tekkatte in the taluk, a bike rider lost his life, after being hit from behind by a ten-wheeler truck and then getting crushed under its wheels. The accident occurred on the night of Tuesday August 4.
The deceased bike rider has been identified as Roopesh Bhandary (25). He used to operate a hair dressing salon titled 'Nishal Hairdressers' at Tekkatte.
Roopesh was returning home from Tekkatte after business hours, when a big truck that was moving towards the town from the direction of Udupi knocked him down from the rear side. It also dragged him along with the two-wheeler for some distance.
Because of the impact of the accident, the bike rider had got entangled in the wheels of the truck. The locals had to put in some efforts to release him from the wheels and then transport him to hospital. Although an ambulance of Tekatte Friends was used to take him into the hospital, he breathed his last on the way.
The deceased was unmarried. He has left behind his parents and a sister. A case stands registered in Kota police station in this connection.
