One injured in Pakistani firing along LoC

Jammu, Aug 5 (IANS): A civilian was injured in unprovoked shelling by the Pakistani Army along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district on Wednesday, an official said.

"The Pakistan Army started unprovoked firing at our positions in Faujian area along the LoC," Defence Ministry spokesman Col Manish Mehta told IANS here.

They were using automatic weapons and mortar and the Indian forces effectively retaliated by using the same calibre weapons, he said.

The shelling, which started at 2.30 p.m, was going on, Mehta added.
