BJP worker shot dead in Bihar

Patna, Aug 6 (IANS): A BJP worker, Avinash Kumar was shot dead in Bihar's capital on Thursday morning, triggering protests by his party leaders including legislators here, police said.

According to local police, Kumar was shot dead when he was on his way to a tea shop near a temple in Salimpur Ahra locality here.

"Three people involved in his killing were identified through CCTV footage and we will arrest them soon," a police official said.

With the Bihar assembly polls round the corner, Bharatiya Janata Party leaders, including local legislator Nitin Navin, have linked the incident to the deteriorating state of law and order in Patna and across the state.

"Killing of BJP worker has vindicated our stand that law and order has totally collapsed in the state," he said.
