Kashyap, Quadri unite again for 'Meeruthiya Gangsters'

Mumbai, Aug 6 (IANS): Anurag Kashyap and Zeishan Quadri, who earlier worked together in the critically acclaimed two-part film “Gangs of Wasseypur”, have joined hands for another project titled “Meeruthiya Gangsters”.

Quadri co-wrote the script of “Gangs Of Wasseypur”, assisted Kashyap and also acted in it playing the character of Definite. Quadri has now directed "Meeruthiya Gangsters" whereas Kashyap has edited it.

Kashyap said he was rather taken with the first cut of the film and that's when he decided to edit it.

"When Zeishan invited me to see the first cut, I kind of made an excuse, because I was scared I might not like it. Then Vasan Bala called me up and said that he was blown by it. I saw it, and was not just surprised, but completely taken in. Vasan and I then sat with him, and gave him feedback. The film is funny, edgy and contemporary,” Kashyap said.

“I love the film, and have decided to come on board (as a presenter). Watch the film, and you can see from where the characters of 'Gangs Of Wasseypur' came from,” added Kashyap, who has directed films like “Black Friday”, “Dev.D” and “Ugly”.

“Meeruthiya Gangsters”, which is slated to release on September 18, features Jaideep Ahlawat, Mukul Dev, Aakash Dahiya, Sanjay Mishra and Vansh Bhardwaj.
