Kasargod: Many students injured as private bus overturns on national highway

Kasargod, Aug 6: Over 15 students were injured after a private bus overturned on the national highway near Mallangai, Bandiyod here on Thursday August 6.

It is said that the driver of the Icon bus plying from Talapady to Heroor in Kayyar lost control and the bus overturned.

As soon as the accident occured, locals gathered at the spot and shifted the injured to hospitals in Uppala and Kumble.

Most of the injured were students. Among them, Priya (14), Harshita (14), Shreeja (17), Priya (18), Ashwini (16), Harshita (17) and Yusuf (19) have been admitted to a private hospital in Uppala.

The other injured, identified as Rashid, Reshma, Shreeja, Safira, Soumya, Sudhi, Nizam, Zainaba and Priyanka have been shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru.

As the accident occured in the evening after school and college hours, most of the passengers in the bus were students.

Following the accident, the Kasargod-Mangaluru national highway was blocked for about an hour.

Kumble police arrived at the spot and registered a case.
