Bengaluru: SIT raids official residence, office of Lokayukta, unearths documents

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Aug 7: The special investigating team (SIT) entrusted with the task of corruption scam which reportedly took place in Lokayukta institution, raided official residence and office of the state Lokayukta Y Bhaskar Rao on Thursday August 6. It is reported that during the raid, the team could lay hands on some important documents.

The raid seems to have lent credence to the demand for the ouster of Justice Y Bhaskar Rao as Lokayukta, which is turning into a crescendo. It is said that the raid was being carried out since the last three days, but the information was kept under wraps in the interests of investigation.

It is learnt that investigating officer, Labhu Ram, led the raids.

It may be recalled that after information about alleged corrupt practices in Lokayukta began to pour out in installments, Lokayukta Justice Bhaskar Rao had shown inclination to proceed on long leave. Visual media had carried clips of him taking away several files from his office. The police are said to have raided his house for these files.

At the time when a team of officials deputed by SIT was busy conducting investigation at the house of Ashwin Rao at Hyderabad, another team went to the Lokayukta's house and office in the city. It is said that some important files relating to the deals entered into by the accused including Ashwin Rao could be collected. It is not clear whether Justice Bhaskar Rao was present during the raids.

In the meanwhile, in all possibility, V Bhaskar, one of the main accused in the scam, who was arrested on Wednesday, is likely to be led to the house and office of Lokayukta for inquest. Bhaskar Rao had openly admitted even after the scam came to light, that he remains very close to the Lokayukta, and his son, Ashwin Rao. In the complaint filed by engineers, Krishnamurty and Channabasappa, mention about the house and office of Lokayukta was found. Bhaskar is being led to these places for recording identity of the spots, sources added.

BJP ex CM shetter's appointee is this Lokayuktha. He is now provingly corrupt and incompetent. He would have been equally corrupt when as a Judge. It is important to check his rulings as judge as well.

Just because of Siddaramaiah that Bhaskar Rao & his son are nailed. If it was BJP govt then Bhaskar Rao would have been saved by RSS due to caste factor of Bhaskar Rao.
