Bantwal, Aug 7: In a tragic incident, a youth from Bantwal died in an elevator accident at Abdali in Jordan on Wednesday August 5.

The deceased, Noel Fred Crasta (26), was among the two persons killed in the accident, the other being a Jordanian.

The accident occured when an external lift used to install and clean windows fell from the 25th floor and landed at the sixth floor of a tower in Abdali.

Noel hailed from Kallige Viraje, Bantwal. He was the son of Francis Crasta and Theresa Crasta, and has a sister named Princia, who is married.

He worked in Dubai for four years before shifting to Jordan, where he was employed as site supervisor with Danway LLC for the last eight months.

Speaking to daijiworld, Noel's brother-in-law Anil Prakash D'Souza said that a case has been filed at the place where the accident took place and that Danway LLC, which is based in Dubai, has sent representatives to Jordan to oversee the procedures. It is not yet known when the mortal remains would be brought back to home town.

    “He Is Not Dead

I cannot say, and I will not say
That he is dead. He is just away.
With a cheery smile, and a wave of the hand,
He has wandered into an unknown land
And left us dreaming how very fair
It needs must be, since he lingers there.
And you—oh you, who the wildest yearn
For an old-time step, and the glad return,
Think of him faring on, as dear
In the love of There as the love of Here.
Think of him still as the same. I say,
He is not dead—he is just away.”
