India, Pakistan exchange heavy fire on LoC


Jammu, Aug 7 (IANS): Heavy exchange of fire took place between India and Pakistan on Friday on the line of control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

"Pakistan army resorted to unprovoked shelling and firing on the LoC in Sauji yan area of Poonch district at 3.30 a.m. today (Friday)," defence spokesman Colonel Manish Mehta told IANS in Jammu.

"Our troops are effectively responding with same calibre weapons. Firing exchanges are still on in the area," the defence official said.
