Udupi, Aug 9: A 14-year-old boy who had gone missing on Saturday August 8 was found dead in a secluded spot at Kunjal near Brahmavar here on Sunday August 9.

The deceased, identified as Prajwal Acharya, was the son of Vittal and Prema Acharya, residents of Kunjal.

He was a student of VKR Acharya Memorial high school, Kunjal, and was studying in the 9th standard.

It is said that he had not been attending school for the past 11 days, though he would leave from home in uniform. For about three or four days, he could not attend school due to fever, but after that he began leaving from home to school, but went somewhere else, police sources said.

The teachers then contacted his parents to enquire about his prolonged absence. The parents then questioned their son about it. Family sources said that though he was questioned, the boy's parents did not reprimand him.

On Saturday, he left from home in uniform, but again did not reach school. The school authorities again informed the parents and a search was conducted, but the boy was not found anywhere.
On Sunday morning, he was found hanging by a belt from a small tree in a wooded area at Kunjal.

Prajwal was the only child to his parents, who are coolie workers, and sources said that for the past one week, he seemed depressed. No death note was found.

Brahmavar police have registered a case.
