64 held at Mumbai hotels for 'indecent behaviour in public'

Mumbai, Aug 9 (PTI): Sixty-four people were arrested by Mumbai Police following raids at hotels on Madh Island and Aksa beach here for allegedly indulging in indecent behaviour in public.

Police rounded up some couples from hotel rooms in Madh Island on August 6, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detection) Dhananjay Kulkarni said.

The arrests were made after raids were carried out by a team of police officials led by Deputy Commissioner (Zone XI) Vikram Deshpande at several lodges, resorts, two-star hotels and on the beaches, police said.

The arrested people were later brought to Malwani police station and booked under Bombay Police Act, they said.

"Some people found in guest houses were allowed to go after enquiries," said Kulkarni.

Three cases were also registered under the Prevention of Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, police said.

The arrested persons were fined Rs 1,200 each before being let off later.

Parents of some college students who were held were also called to the police station, they added.

The victims were arrested from the hotels.Freedom curbed. Police acted in haste and how come cops arrest a few couple from the bedrooms of the hotel? Where is our freedom and a question about our democracy . All this I read in the comments of Indian dailies. If somebody commitsmurder within the four walls of his bedroom ..no action ... Freedom!

According to me we have come a long way in this issue and at some point of time we need to pause and think. Look at the society around, youth ... where are they heading to. I just discuss with lecturers and faculties , they say the youth are directionless. they have gone a ahead than our imagination. Love, skin relationship, Sex , day outs, affairs, night outs... these have become a part of their life now a days. Youth's are fighting for their right to kiss in public, it's our wish they are saying. Tomorrow they will ask why shouldn't we f... in public, it's our right they will question. That's why I have mentioned in the beginning that we have come all the way. Too late to rectify. But yes, not that we can not. Should we let our own kids to be a part of this stupid in human culture ? Let's start from today , not to stop their freedom completely, at least guide them , direct them what's right and what's wrong, stop them getting in to all inhuman activates... Please don't polities this thinking Mumbai police have done, Fednavis. have done it. It's for your own children's future this is required. let's all support and clean up the city and ensure we give a better and clean society for our kids.

I see so many comments on chaddis and govt not allowing freedom. Lets assume that someone who has commented on chaddis and govt finds his/her daughter/son in this raid with a unknown person, would you accept him/her without any question? If you accept, then you are a real person who respects freedom.

Is Bombay red light area is exempted from the police definition of "Indecent behavior in public"? Perhaps, they pay $1200 per person directly to the them. Entire world know about red the light areas in Bombay and all of a sudden we see a moral syndrome here.

Is it not police prostituting the law itself.

Chaddis are following their leader Modi. If Modi cannot keep his wife, then no man should aspire for wife. They will call it indecent behavior.
