OIC to hold meet over combating violence, terrorism

Abu Dhabi, Aug 10 (IANS/WAM): The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is scheduled to hold a high-level meeting on Tuesday to further strengthen, solidify and coordinate the efforts to counter extreme violence, sectarianism, terrorism and Islamophobia, media reported on Monday.

The OIC said it has been committed to countering violent extremism for over 20 years. The OIC Code of Conduct on Combating Terrorism and the OIC Convention on Combating International Terrorism were adopted in 1994 and 1999, respectively.

The meeting in Jeddah will be attended by the heads of OIC’s relevant subsidiary, specialised and affiliated bodies, a statement said.

The meeting is expected to focus on the multitude and various dimensions of OIC's strategy, including the root causes of terrorism and violent extremism, how to de-legitimise the ideological discourse of terrorist organisations, ways of inspiring young Muslims to become the driving force against terrorism, cyber and social media and countering Islamophobic voices.

OIC Secretary-General Iyad Ameen Madani is scheduled to deliver a speech at the meeting, along with statements by the heads of the OIC’s various institutions.

OIC is to hold a meeting in Jeddah ?????? and the topic is "to further strengthen, solidify and coordinate the efforts to counter extreme violence, sectarianism, terrorism and Islamophobia"

The topic of discussion is great and welcomed, but why are they meeting in Jeddah? Is Caliph Abu Baker attending the meeting? Or would they then the Islamic State as un-Islamic and rush their emissaries to the Islamic State immediately after that?

In my humble opinion the most apt location in the world today for such an important meeting of the heads of states of the Organization of Islamic Conference is Ruqqa in Syria, and the person to chair such an important meeting should be none other that Caliph Abu Baker Al Baghdadi a Ph.D in Islam, as both place and person are the epicenter and the very reason to meet.

As we ALL know Islam is a religion of peace. But see what they are doing, filming and proudly displaying it on the internet. I do not know of ANY foreign leader, religious or political paying an open visit there and meeting with the Caliph and then making a speech on TV explaining to all of them and the rest of humanity how wrong they are, and most importantly warning him to STOP. If they don’t, as I.S is surrounded by OIC states, they could easily raise a million man army and crush such un Islamic movement, stop all these atrocities on the minority communities and free all Christian and Yezidi girls who are their sex slaves. Why don’t they emulate what the American’s did to the Serbs in Bosnia – brow beat them into submission and prove to the world that ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN EMPTY WORDS.
