Mangaluru, Aug 11: Ullal police have succeeded in arresting three persons in connection with the murderous assault on a bakery and general store owner at Ullal Mastikatte, Abdul Salam. They are on the lookout for two more, including the main accused.

The arrested persons happen to be Arfan alias Arfa (23), Saifullasan alias Saifu (21), and Hanif alias Ibrahim alias Ibba (24) from Kumpala here. They were produced in the court.

When Abdul Salam was in the bakery-cum-general store being run by him at Mastikatte Ullal, a gang of six including the above three, which was led by Fayaz from Ullal, had suddenly barged into the store and hit Salam indiscriminately with sword. When Salam shouted for help, people began to gather there. The gang then fled after taking cash from the cash counter. A complaint had been registered about this incident in Ullal police station.

The policemen, who jumped into action immediately, took the above three accused into custody from Chikkamagaluru. They have now launched a manhunt for the main accused and his another accomplcie.

Out of the above accused, Arfan faces a case of abduction in Udupi town police station. It is said that Fayaz and his gang attacked Salam, as the gang nursed a grouse against him because of the fact that in the past, Salam had filed a complaint in Ullal police station against this gang.
