Alert sounded in Bengal airports, rail stations over terror threat

Kolkata, Aug 11 (IANS): The West Bengal government has sounded an alert at airports, railway stations and other vital installations and buildings following intelligence inputs that terrorist groups were trying to create disturbance before Independence Day, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Monday.

"We have sounded an alert at railway stations, airports, important public places, vital installations and public buildings," Banerjee told newspersons here before leaving for Delhi.

"I have received inputs from the Intelligence Bureau," she said.

Banerjee said around 100 kg of explosives was seized from Murshidabad district's Raghunathganj on Saturday. A probe by the Criminal Investigation Department has been ordered into the incident.

Banerjee accused a "political party" of backing such terrorist groups, but did not name the party.
