New Delhi, Aug 11 (IANS): The Lok Sabha was on Tuesday adjourned for the day after witnessing uproarious scenes, as the Congress continued its protest over the Lalit Modi controversy.
After numerous adjournments since morning, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan adjourned the house for the day at 4 p.m. after it witnessed unruly scenes over how to debate the issue.
While the government had listed the debate to be taken up under rule 193 which does not entail voting, the Congress was pressing for an adjournment motion, which means that the discussion has to be taken up immediately and would be voted on.
As the Congress members kept up their protests with placards and shouted slogans, Mahajan adjourned the house for the day.
