No change in stand on demand for resignations: Congress

New Delhi, Aug 11 (IANS): As parliament saw yet another day of disruptions by the opposition, the Congress on Tuesday said there was no change in the party's stand on seeking resignation of three BJP leaders.

"There is no change of party stand on the issue of resignation of Sushma Swaraj, Vasundhara Raje and Shivraj Chouhan," Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi told media persons here.

The Congress has been demanding resignations of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje for allegedly favouring former Indian Premier League chief Lalit Modi and that of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan over admission and recruitment-related Vyapam scam.

While the government had listed the IPL issue to be discussed under rule 193, the Congress wants that the issue be discussed under an adjournment motion.

Singhvi said: "The lower house proposes to discuss IPL and Congress wants to discuss it under adjournment process."

On the introduction of the GST bill in the Rajya Sabha, he said: "We are happy that Arun Jaitley finds GST of public purpose after years of opposition by the BJP."

"GST should come, but the government was introducing it without any discussion in the Business Advisory Committee," he said adding that the Bharatiya Janata Party was trying to create confusion and hiding its own economic failure.
