New Delhi, Aug 12 (IANS): The Lok Sabha was on Wednesday adjourned briefly over the modalities of a discussion on the Lalit Modi controversy.
The Congress which had demanded a discussion under an adjournment motion said that the matter should be discussed under the the title of "Modi Gate".
However, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan had strong objections to the word and said that it cannot be done.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said even if the speaker did not agree to the name of the debate the Congress was free to use any word during the discussion.
"Don't make excuses and run away from the debate. Use any words whether 'Modi Gate' or otherwise. But please discuss the issue and end the stalemate".
Congress members, however, did not agree to this and kept up with their loud sloganeering. Following this, the speaker adjourned the house till 12.30 p.m.
