British anti-terror police arrest five from one family


London, Aug 12 (IANS): Five people from the same family were arrested on Wednesday in Britain on suspicion of possessing material related to terrorism, police said.

Anti-terror police attended an address in east London on Wednesday and arrested the five members of the family, Xinhua reported.

The arrested people include a 51-year-old man and four females - 16-year-old, 17-year old, 19-year old and 53-year-old, police said.

"All five were arrested on suspicion of possessing information likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism," the Metropolitan Police said in a statement.

The man was additionally arrested on suspicion of possessing false identity documents with improper intention. All five currently remain in police custody.

These arrests are part of an ongoing investigation involving one of the females who was arrested in July on suspicion of preparation of terrorism.
