Mangaluru, Aug 13: As per a complaint, an Ustad of a Madrassa at Darandabagilu at Pilar near Thokkottu, has been accused of inflicting sexual harassment on a minor girl attending Madrassa classes regularly. Based on a complaint, a case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act has been registered at Ullal police station against the accused.

The accused has been named as Muhammed Madani from Sajipa in Bantwal taluk, who works as a teacher in Madrassa. As the concerned failed to take any action against the accused even after the parents of the girl complained to Madrassa Committee repeatedly, the parents have now named president, vice president, and secretary of this committee in their complaint.

The girl, who is nine-year-old, used to attend classes during the morning period. The teacher was sexually harassing her, the parents said. The Ullal police have now launched a search for the teacher, after registering the said case.

Thorough investigation shuld be conducted in this case and in case the Ustaad is found to be guilty, he shuld be punished. In case of wrong doing by Ustaad, the committee members should not come to his help. This is an issue of disrespect to our religion. Madrassas should have ladies teachers to teach girls. It is shame that some people are bringing bad name to religion and community. Everyone should be responsible for all acts and should follow the rules and teachings. People are now losing faith in Teachers as few of them are doing bad things and behave worse than animals.

This has become a sickness. We have to look into the aspect that the teacher in the madras. The sad apart about the committee is that they do a interview when they choose the teachers. Also they should see that the teacher is locally based and married.if not based locally the committee should make provision for his stay with his wife. This was the issue will be solved to much extend

So far Madrasses were free from such controversies , looks like a conspiracy to malign madrasses. Parents can easily mis use POSCO laws., even if its a simple corporal punishment. Sharia treats Age of puberty as Age of consent , So POCSO act which absurdly treats girls less than 18 as minors is applicable in madrasses !!? . Religious codes are prestine and mature , should override secular laws which has lots of loop holes .

Sorry Roshan, FYI this is not a new for Madarasas. Time and again, we hear such news from the madarasa. One effective way about curbing it would be educating children about how they should inform parents if anyone misuses their innocence.Be it their teacher or some relatives. Reminds me of the episode Satyameva JAyathe where Aamir Khan teaches little children how they should react if someone touches their body in a not ssogood way. Everyone should teach their children. It can happen to anybody anywhere. beware!!

Good to see fellow community members condemning the act. We have seen people blindly supporting the so called "religious"leaders. Proper punishment to be given to the man. Never should he return to this "usthad" profession. The committee members who were aware of this should also be punished for their negligence.

Corrupt People use religion in order to gain personal life. This happens in all religion. Please do not blame other religion just to corner them, this applies to everyone including me.
One should condemn these type of incident when it happens in our own religion. But it does not happen most of the time.

You don't need religion to get people to do good things, but it definitely helps to get them to do bad things if you are only religious and not spiritual.

He will be punished by the Madrasa committee (as per sharia law) and also by our constitutional law - Law of the land. One sin, two punishments.

    Mr. Nagesh,

It's not good on your part to be so obnoxious and rude about a particular community. Muslims, like everybody else condemn this heinous crime from the so called religious preacher. People like him should be paraded naked and put behind bars for indefinite period. Understand sir, every religion has it's own set of good and bad bunch. Never generalize the whole community for a small rotten bunch of it.
