Pakistan army violates ceasefire in Jammu


Jammu, Aug 13 (IANS): The Pakistan army on Thursday carried out unprovoked firing at three places on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch and Jammu districts.

"Pakistan army fired at our positions in Krishna Ghati and Bhimber Gali sectors of the LoC today (Thursday)," defence spokesman Manish Mehta told IANS here.

"They also fired at our positions on the LoC in Pallanwala sector (Jammu)."

"Pakistan firing at these places started at 4.15 a.m. and lasted till 5.10 a.m. Our troops retaliated," he added.

"They also fired at our positions in Bhimber Gali from 12.30 a.m. to 1.30 a.m. and in Krishna Ghati sector from 8 p.m. to 8.15 p.m. yesterday (Wednesday)," Mehta said.

The spokesman said intermittent firing exchanges at these places were still going on.
