Jharkhand official accused of misconduct absconding

Ranchi, Aug 13 (IANS): A Jharkhand government official accused of misbehaving with a minor girl here is absconding, a police official said on Thursday.

"An arrest warrant has been issued against Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC) of Khuti Devendra Bhushan Singh. We are trying to arrest the absconding individual," said a police official to IANS.

The issue came up in the Jharkhand High Court on Wednesday. While hearing the case, a bench headed by Chief Justice Virendra Singh said: "Where is DDC? Has air engulfed the DDC. Police should step up efforts to trace the DDC."

Last month, a minor girl lodged a police complaint that the DDC misbehaved with her when she went to his office on some work.

The Jharkhand government is yet to suspend the official.
