Mangaluru: Defamatory posts on Facebook - Youth Congress approaches police

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (DV)

Mangaluru, Aug 15: Dakshina Kannada district Youth Congress have submitted a memorandum to city police commissioner S Murugan, demanding stringent action against the admin of 'Rana Kahale News' Facebook page for allegedly uploading derogatory posts against district Youth Congress president Mithun Rai.

In the memorandum, the Youth Congress alleged that a Facebook page named as 'Rana Kahale News' has been posting derogatory, defaming and insulting posts against respected people, and that the page is also trying to disrupt communal harmony in society. "Such posts in Facebook may lead to disruption of communal harmony in a sensitive district like ours and create panic," the memorandum stated.

"On August 12, the Facebook page posted derogatory remarks against Mithun Rai and our organization. Moreover, his photographs were used to defame his image. This act is offensive under the IPC and IT Act. Hence the police department should ban 'Rana Kahale News' Facebook page and take stringent action against those who posted the derogatory comments on Mithun Rai," the Youth Congress urged.

Speaking to daijiworld, Mithun Rai said, "A Facebook page named 'Rana Kahale News' created by Prasad Kalladka posted derogatory content against me, with an intention to defame me."

On Youth Congress hoisting its party flag on the pole meant for hoisting the National Flag, he said, "We organized this programme as per the tenets of the Constitution. BJP is unneccesarily politicising the issue and trying to give political colour to the incident. We have even apologized for
our act through the press."

He also questioned as to why BJP was silent when a separatist in Kashmir was let free by the PDP-BJP government, when Pakistani flag was waved in Kashmir recently.

He also said that the police commissioner has assured that he would take suitable action against those who defamed him on the Facebook page.

Corporator A C Vinayaraj, Praveen Chandra Alva, Vishwas Das, Nagendra and many supporters of Mithun Rai was present while submitting the memorandum.

    lady from Beja

We can recognize these guys they are useless, don't criticize people living abroad, we contribute a lots to Indian economy, don't live in the past, congress era is finished, congress will never survive under the leadership of useless MR. Rahul Gandhi & Italians, not like late Mrs. Indira Gandhi & late Mr. Rajeev Gandhi era, they were honest and worked hard for the poor, try to find some honest, well educated, knowledgeable men or women in that party to lead from front, there plenty of them in congress, stop this madness that only person from Gandhi family has to lead the party, till then congress won't count, it will just be a regional party, if you don't believe see yourself in coming years.
I know you are a die hard & staunch Congress supporter, but think about the reality. We don't support any party, people have given mandate for NDA for 5years, voters will judge them accordingly, if they fail, they will be kicked out, voters are smart & educated, they won't buy the propaganda of Media or any party. We have seen what progress we have achieved in past 58 years, our grand parents voted for congress, they din't even know who was the candidate & what achievement he or she did, all they knew was the symbol & blind faith in congress, they lived poor with no progress, things have changed now, gone are the days, no can fool no one. you can fool people some times, but not all the time.
    Hope common sense prevails.

FACEBOOK seems to be a website for people to take advantage and defame individuals. This has happened earlier and in the fitness of things the publishers should exercise caution before accepting notifications, articles and versions from people.
