Udupi, Aug 15: The Leo Rodrigues Family Kittall Yuva Puroskar 2015 was presented to Melwin Kolalgiri in a ceremony held at Bishop's House here on Saturday August 15.

Henry Mendonca (HM), editor, Kittall.com welcomed the gathering and gave a formal introduction on the award.

The award, consisting of a citation, cash award and a memento was presented to Melwin by Fr Lawrence D'Souza, secretary, Catholic Board of Education, diocese of Udupi.

The citation was read out to the audience by Pinto, Vamanjoor.

In his address, Fr Lawrence said, “Everybody has talents. We must not only provide a suitable platform to showcase their talents, but also appreciate and reward talents."

Acknowledging the honour, Melwin said, "People have lots of expectations from me from now on and I will do my best to fulfill them through my writings."

He also expressed gratitude to God for bestowing him with literary talent. He also thanked all his supporters and his well-wishers for their guidance, support and love. He wished good luck to all the young writers and said that their work should be recognized and appreciated.

Fr Lawrence also released a book and a CD on the occasion.

The CD 'Tujem Rupnnem', a romantic collection of songs has been composed by the 3 D'Souzas of ‘Tuje Charanni’ fame - Marian Pernal, Anil Pernal and Wilfred R, Pangla. Daijiworld.com is the official media partner for this music album.

The book, ‘Pinturam’ written by the recipient of the Kittall Puroskar, Melwin Kolalgiri, is a collection of essays containing unforgettable moments of his childhood. This book has been published by Evershine Publications, Mangaluru.

Wilson Kateel gave a brief insight into the book by narrating three funny incidents narrated in it.

Ronald Sabi, promoter, Belle Vision Global, congratulated the recipient and lauded Kittall.com for supporting and recognizing young talent.

The guests on the dais were Fr Lawrence Dsouza, Henry Mendonca, Daya Victor Lobo, and advisory board member, Kittall.com, Ronald Sabi, Marian Dsouza and Melwin Kolalgiri.

Alwyn Pernal compered the programme and Ronald Sequiera, Surathkal proposed the vote of thanks.

    Congratulations Melwin. You spoke from the heart. I appreciate the initiative taken by Leo Rodrigues Family and Kittall Editor H M Pernal in identifying and honouring young talented writers. I liked the way well attended compact programme planned and presented in just one hour. presentation of Award, C D Release and Book release - all in time. I came to the venue 11.45 a m sharp and left the venue 1.30 p. m. Kittall , you have set an example guys. Congrats.
