'Mangalore Idol' contest begins on high note as over a hundred audition

Mangaluru, Aug 15: Young, aspiring singers from in and around Mangaluru lined up at Forum Fiza Mall here on Saturday August 15 as Big Time Creations in assocation with Daijiworld 24x7, the television channel of Daijiworld Group, launched the 'Mangalore Idol 2015' contest.

The first round of auditions, which began at 9 am and went on till evening, saw over 150 male and female contestants aged above 15 showcasing their singing talent.

The audition was formally launched by Prashanth, one of the top 5 finalists of last year's 'Mangalore Idol'.

In the first round of auditions, contestants were asked to sing any Hindi or Kannada song of their choice.

The second round of auditions will be held on September 6 at Forum Fiza Mall from 11 am to 5 pm.

Manikanth Kadri, the leading Kannada, Telugu and Tamil music director, playback singers Supriya Lohith and Santosh Venky will be the judges for the contest finale.

The winner of the contest will be awarded with Mangalore Idol trophy and 2 round-trip tickets to Dubai by Jet Airways, the travel partner of the event.

Gangadar Hegde, area manager of Jet Airways, Sooraj Bolar, Neville Lasrado, Nayan Suvarna, Preetham M N and other dignitaries were present.

Daijiworld 24x7 will telecast the Mangalore Idol episodes.
