15 killed in air strikes near Syrian capital


Damascus, Aug 16 (IANS): At least 15 people were killed by Syrian air strikes on a rebel-held area near the capital Damascus, a monitor group reported on Sunday.

Women and children were among those killed, when Syrian helicopters reportedly dropped bombs on the Wadi Barada town near Damascus, Xinhua news agency quoted the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) as saying.

Tens of others were injured in the shelling, SOHR added.
