Pakistan envoy summoned over ceasefire violations

New Delhi, Aug 16 (IANS): India on Sunday summoned Pakistani High Commissioner Abdul Basit in the aftermath of continuing ceasefire violations and death of civilians.

Basit was summoned by the external affairs ministry in the afternoon and a protest was lodged.

Speaking to newspersons, Basit, however, claimed that India violated the ceasefire 70 times and that Pakistan was very concerned about it.

The continuing firing from across the border comes ahead of the August 23-24 National Security Advisor-level talks to be held in Delhi between India's Ajit Doval and Pakistan's Sartaj Aziz to discuss terrorism issues.
