Honnavar: Two brothers drown, bodies not found

Honnavar, Aug 17: In a tragic incident, two brothers drowned in the sea at Kasarkod eco beach, a tourist destination near Honnavar in Uttara Kannada district on Sunday, August 16.







The deceased are Nazeer Ahmed (18) and Asrar Ahmed (16), sons of Moulana Nayeem Umri from Neher Nagar, Hubli road in Sirsi.

As per sources, 12 persons had come to the Kasarkod eco beach for a picnic on Sunday evening. Asrar and Nisar Along with 3 others ventured into sea and within 10 minutes Asrar was swept away due to strong waves. The elder brother Nazeer who went for the rescue of the younger, too was swept away.

It is said that other three also were about to be swept away, but the locals saved their lives.

Nazeer was studying in first year BCom while Asrar was in the first year PUC at Iqra college Sirsi.

The bodies of the victims have not been recovered yet. Search operations are on.

Honnavar circle police inspector Kumarswami is in charge of the search.

A case has been registered at Honnavar police station.
