Pakistan violates ceasefire in Jammu


Jammu, Aug 17 (IANS): The Pakistan Army on Monday violated the ceasefire by resorting to unprovoked shelling and firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu, an army official said.

"The Pakistan Army used 120 mm and 82 mm mortar and heavy machine gun to violate the ceasefire on LoC in Saujiyan and Mandi sectors in Poonch district," defence spokesperson Col Manish Mehta told IANS.

"Pakistan firing started at 8 p.m. on Sunday and continued till 1 a.m. Intermittent firing is still on," the defence official said.

"Our troops are effectively and beffitingly responding to Pakistan shelling and firing. No casualty of our troops has been reported," he added.
