Chinese minister assures transparency on Tianjin blasts

Beijing, Aug 17 (IANS): Chinese Public Security Minister Guo Shengkun ordered authorities to release information concerning the Tianjin blasts and rescue operation in a timely and transparent manner.

Guo on Sunday urged local authorities to continue to search for survivors while properly disposing of the dangerous chemicals around the blast site and preventing further accidents, Xinhua reported.

The injured must be treated with the best medical resources, and psychological assistance should be offered to the injured people and victims' families, he said.

The authorities concerned must find out the direct cause of the blasts and also trace the loopholes in safety management before the accident, Guo said.
