Foreign intervention in regional issues unacceptable: Iran

Moscow, Aug 17 (IANS): Iran on Monday asserted that it opposed any kind of foreign intervention in the internal affairs of regional countries.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Tehran believed that all regional players should consolidate their efforts to address regional issues, including extremism, Press TV reported.

Addressing a joint press conference with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov here, the Iranian minister added that Tehran and Moscow emphasised the settling of all issues in the region through political approaches.

People of the countries that are facing problems should decide their own future, Zarif stressed.

He added that Iran rejects any kind of foreign intervention as it violates the sovereignty of countries in the region.
