Kabul, Aug 17 (IANS): At least 101 Taliban militants were killed during a series of operations across conflict-ridden Afghanistan over the past 24 hours, the Interior Ministry said in a statement here on Monday.
"Units of police backed by the army and national directorate for security have killed 101 armed insurgents during operations conducted in Nangarhar, Parwan, Baghlan, Kunduz, Faryab, Sar-e-Pul, Oruzgan, Jowzjan, Paktika and Helmand provinces over the past 24 hours," the statement said, Xinhua reported.
According to the statement, 82 more insurgents have been injured during the operations. However, it did not say if there were casualties among the security personnel.
