Couple held in Gurgaon for kidnapping infant

Gurgaon, Aug 17 (IANS): A couple was arrested on Monday on charges of kidnapping the 10-month-old male child of their neighbour, police said.

Abhimanyu, 28, and his 25-year-old wife Neetu, who hail from Saharsa district in Bihar, were arrested from Nihal Colony near Palam Vihar, and the kidnapped child, Aryan alias Kanha, was rescued.

The couple had kidnapped the child from Dundahera village on the Delhi border on August 14, police said.

"Jagdish Kumar filed a police complaint regarding the kidnapping of his child and said that a couple living in his neighbourhood were also missing," a police officer said.

Though Jagdish Kumar, who hails from Agra, did not receive any ransom call, the couple were traced by the police cyber crime cell.

The couple confessed before police that they kidnapped the child, as they did not have one of their own even after seven years of marriage.

The couple had rented a room in Nihal Colony nearly a month ago, and informed the landlord that they will shift in mid-August.
