Sharjah, Aug 18: Entrepreneur, community leader and patron of Karnataka Sangha Sharjah Mark Denis D'Souza was recently honoured with the International Aryabhata Award 2014 in recognition of his contribution in the field of social service, along with 56 other recipients from various fields.
The award presentation ceremony was held at Ravindra Kala Kshetra, Bengaluru recently.
Mark Denis is the founder and managing director of Fortuna Engineering LLC, which he established in 1986. Today it is one of the leading companies in the Gulf providing employment to Mangalureans in particular and Indians in general.
He is also engaged in social work, and has contributed generously to several causes, especially for the well-being of mentally ill children for whom he has special concern.
He is also a staunch supporter of Konkani culture and literature, and is involved in various Mangalurean Konkani organizations in Sharjah and contribution towards social and cultural causes.
For his contribution to society and in recognition of his achievements, he was honoured with the Mayura Award by Karnataka Sangha Sharjah in 2004 and Rachana NRI Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2012
He is currently residing in Sharjah with his wife Leny Dsouza and children Lavita, Renita, Ryan and Damian.
