Indian held with drugs in the Philiippines

Manila, Aug 18 (IANS): An Indian has been arrested for possession of illegal drugs in an operation set-up by undercover group in the Philippines, a media report said on Tuesday.

Prakash Mahtani, was arrested in an illegal drugs buy-bust operation in Pasong Tamo in the Quezon city on August 17, ABS-CBNnews.com reported.

The authorities recovered drugs worth one million Philippines pesos ($21,560). Majority of the drugs were identified as party drugs.

The term "party" drug refers to a variety of drugs found at dance clubs and house parties.

"Mahtani has been a target of the operation for a long time now," police superintendent Lorenzo Trajano was quoted as saying.

Trajano, also the chief of southern police district anti-illegal drugs-special operation task group, tagged Mahtani as the supplier of party drugs.

He said Mahtani used to supply drugs such as ketamine -- a hallucinogen used to increase a person's sex drive -- in different bars in Quezon City.
