Militants kill policeman, civilian in Kashmir


Srinagar, Aug 18 (IANS): Separatist guerrillas on Tuesday gunned down a policeman and a civilian at a shrine in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district, police said.

Militants sprayed bullets at the policeman who was guarding the shrine.

"Militants fired at constable Fayaz Ahmad at the Tujarsharief shrine," a police officer told IANS. He succumbed to his injuries.

A civilian, Abdul Rahim Lone, 70, was also killed outside the shrine.

The militants fled after the killings. "Reinforcements have been rushed to the area to trace the assailants," the officer added.
