Fujairah, Jun 15: It was a great relief for the people of Fujairah when the sea calmed down on Thursday, the 7th June. It was a double joy for the Mangaloreans as they celebrated thier second anniversary. Thanking the good Lord for keeping them safe from the fear of the turbulent sea they all joined with the friends and well-wishers at the Fujairah International Marine Club on Thursday night.



The President of CCF Mr. Vincent Barboza cordially welcomed the gathering and thanked the sponsors for their support.

Fr. Michael Cardoz, the Parish Priest of Mother of Perpetual help Church, Fujairah was honoured during the programme.  Mr.Melwin Vas read the Letter of Honour and gave a brief summary about Fr. Michael.

When Fr. Michael  was working as a mechanical engineer at the ARAMCO Refinery, Saudi Arabia, he heard the God’s call for which he responded and joined the Vicariate of Arabia. After his ordination in 1987, he was posted at St. Mary’s Church Dubai as an Associate Pastor. He came to Fujairah in 1991 to start up a new Church on a virgin soil. Today there exists a full fledged church dedicated to Mother of Perpetual help under the able leadership of Fr. Michael.



Members of Canara Catholics Fujairah were very pleased to honour Fr.Michael on the special occasion of their 2nd Anniversary
Baby Clareen Rodrigues offered the bouquet of flowers. Mr.Alfred  D’Souza honoured the Pastor with the shawl. A memento was presented by Mr. Vincent Barboza.



Fr. Michael thanked wholeheartedly all the members of CCF and wished them all the very best.

The later part of the celebration was filled with games, music and dance.




A welcome dance was presented by three little children Jenisa, Sharon and Avrel. A foot tapping music with the Mangalorean, Goan and English numbers kept the crowd on the floor till the end. Plenty of prizes were won during the Raffle draw.

Delicious food with the Mangalorean taste was served. The programme came to an end with the singing of ‘Lawdathe.’
