EU chief to meet Ukrainian president

Brussels, Aug 21 (IANS): European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker will meet Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko next Thursday, it was announced on Friday.

A commission spokesperson told a press briefing here that the two leaders will discuss implementation of the Minsk agreement, Xinhua reported.

Last week, violence in eastern Ukraine escalated sharply with conflicting sides blaming each other for violations of the six-month-old truce and preparations for new offensives.
