Mangaluru, Aug 22: A man who objected to three men sitting with women on the front seats of the bus was allegedly thrashed by a group at Ullal near here on Firday August 21. Following the incident, the Ullal police arrested a conductor of another bus, who was allegedly part of the group.

In protest against the Ullal police, buses plying on Mangaluru-Eliyarpadavu route came to a complete halt on Saturday August 22, causing much inconvenience to passengers.

It is said that on Friday August 21, three bus employees were sitting on the long seat next to the bus driver in the 'Bayar' bus plying from Eliyarpadavu to Mangaluru. Two women were also seated there. A person named Naveen Kumar of Amblamogaru who was on the same bus complained to the bus conductor alleging that the three bus employees were harassing the women. The conductor then made the three men get up and made them sit at the rear end of the bus.

Out of grudge against Naveen, the three men, one of them identified as Rizwan, on Saturday gathered some persons from Amblamogaru and allegedly assaulted Naveen, who later filed a complaint in Ullal police station. Among those named in the complaint were Imran, Ansar, Shareef, Rizwan and Ameer.

Based on the complaint, Ullal police then took into custody Ansar and Junaid, who work as conductor and driver respectively for 'Ashwini' bus plying on Mangaluru-Eliyarpadavu route.

Following the police action, buses on this route held a flash strike, condemning the fact that police took the two into custody during their duty hours. Students, office-goers and the general public were put to much inconvenience. The locals lamented that even after hours of the bus strike, the police did not come to the spot to resolve the issue.

Everything in Mangalore is now upside down.why did the Naveen kumar complain to conductor about harassing the women. When then women should have done it about it.why should he interfere in such matter?trouble maker?conductor also must have inquired first whether it is true.when conductor did his duty to place them elsewhere,I see no Problem.when woman sitting with men in a seat what is the Problem?Only some Trouble arises woman can complain or get up and sit up elsewhere.Where it is written that women should get a seat and men stands up?of course when men do give a seat to women out of courtesy for old or sick. But hier is Trouble maker and the three hitting Naveen and other innocent People are suffering in this goondagiri.Noone takes here strict Action, even Police.

Please avoid writing comments, just for the heck of it, when you don't have facts. Long seats are commonly used by ladies, because they are near to reserved ladies seats, besides more visible and they feel safe. And for every indirect comments, good family background ladies will not complain. Unfortunately very rarely taken up by men like Mr. Naveen, in such incidents. Most of the people do not have the guts to confront such goondas. If everybody does, these 5% rowdies will fall in line. Kudos to Mr. Naveen and I'll do the same thing if I'm in his place. And I'll see to it, they will not repeat such mistakes, in their life time!

Dear Requim, were you sleeping these days and suddenly got up. Please open your eyes. You are still in a well. You are not seeing brutal attacks and killings by sangh parivar terrorists. Nude swords carried by sangh parivar is not disturbing you whereas stick carried by few people is disturbing yu. Don't be like a frog in the well, come out of it and see the world. If you have some humanity, raise your voice against the goondagardi or sangh parivar terrorists who have insulted and molested females on various occasions.

See the way they parked the buses on a wrong side of the road!
    Who gave them license?

    * They claim that "police took the two into custody during their duty hours"!!!!
Is there any timings to arrest anti-social elements, criminals?
They have taken them to police station not a cinema theater right?

THIS IS A BLACK MAIL. The Police have their duties and wherever indicated they have to take action. If the bus employees are aggrieved they should approach the right authorities for redress of grievance ... Instead of taking appropriate steps it appears the people concerned are attempting to pressurize The Police

There is no need to give diplomatic response or twist and turn issue for a bunch of thugs who harass women and attack inncenent guy. The name of the criminals don't have to influence what we comment here and give them benefit of doubt. The thugs should be severely punished, fullstop.
