Belthangady, Aug 22: A-30-year old contractor sustained serious burnt injuries on the right side of his face, hip, knee and hand in an acid attack here on Saturday August 22.

The victim has been identified as Ashok Poojary (30) who works as a contractor and a part time snake catcher. He was attacked by Saju who threw acid on him.

Earlier, Saju had allegedly harassed a lady who is Ashok’s relative. On the pretext of offering her a lift, he went on to harass the lady by touching her. When she complained after going home, the family members, along with Ashok, went to confront Saju. Saju was then working in a rubber estate in Belthangady.

When Ashok asked him regarding the sexual harassment on the lady, Saju threw acid on Ashok and ran away leaving his bike and mobile on the spot.

Ashok was then admitted in Belthangady government hospital and later shifted to A J hospital.

A case has been registered in Belthangady police station in this regard.

Horrible, first attack Lady and later throwing acid.what a cruelty ?.Now that he has left back his Motor bike and mobile, sell it and finance the Hospital bill.when caught instead of throwing in jail throw same acid on him the same way.then he will know what agony he has created.Eye to eye ,is the best punishment .

My sympathies with the acid attack victim. I hope police take this incident seriously & punish the culprit as well as the acid supplier whoever it is eligible for punishment. There should be punishment of severe kind for such a crime.

Arrest the culprit & ask him to do the ward boy service for his victim till the victim is cured & ask the culprit to pay all his hospital bills & punish him severely. Public should punish such people not the police. There is complete law & order failure in Karnataka.
