British embassy reopens in Iran

Tehran, Aug 23 (IANS): The British embassy in Iran has reopened, nearly four years after it was closed.

British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond arrived in Tehran on Sunday for the reopening ceremony.

Iran is simultaneously reopening its embassy in London, reported BBC.

The British embassy was closed in 2011 after it was stormed by protesters during a demonstration against sanctions against Iran.

Hammond's visit comes weeks after Iran reached a deal with six world powers aimed at curbing its nuclear programme.
