Trinamool postpones its FTII solidarity visit


Kolkata, Aug 25 (IANS): The Trinamool Congress on Monday said it has postponed its delegation's visit to FTII Pune to express solidarity with the agitating students.

Lok Sabha members Abhishek Banerjee and Satabdi Roy and Rajya Sabha chief whip Derek O'Brien were to interact with the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) students on Monday.

"Trinamool team postpones trip to meet #FTII Pune students. Hope to go later," tweeted O' Brien.

Recently, lending her support to the agitating students, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, also the Trinamool supremo, had urged the Narendra Modi-led central government to resolve the impase.

The students have been protesting for nearly three months against Gajendra Chauhan's appointment as the institute's chairman.
