Mangaluru: St Anne Church Kelarai celebrates Kelarai Yuva Karbar

Mangaluru, Aug 25: St Anne Church Kelarai celebrated a great historical event on July 23. Under the banner of Kelarai Yuva Karbar (KYK)-2015 all the youth of the parish had a fun day in the field. The program saw 24 active events. Events like kabbaddi, throwball, tug of war, dog and the bone, running race, march past were the crowd pullers.







The event was inaugurated by Ivan D’Souza, MLC, Government of Karnataka. In his address to the youth he said "This event is a first of a kind held only for the youth of the individual parish."

The president of the program and the parish priest of St Anne Church Kelarai, Fr Joachim Fernandes in his message said, “In early days fields were playgrounds and working in the fields was an enjoyment. But today there are no grounds to play. That is why youth have to come to the barren fields.”

He encouraged all the youth to develop some interest towards agriculture. Melwyn D’Souza, Zilla Panchayat member, Robert Lancy Pais, vice president of Kelarai Church Parish Pastoral Parishath along with Alice Vas, secretary of Parish Pastoral Parishath, Wilfred Mascarenhas and Rohan Pais, ICYM and YCS president respectively were present. Fr Vishal Monis chief organizer welcomed the guests. Santhosh D’Costa conducted the proceedings for the day.
