Udupi, Aug 25: A youth was handed over to police here on Tuesday August 25 for allegedly harassing a girl in a bus.

The accused has been identified as Yogish Katapady (25).

The bus was plying from Katapady to Udupi. It is said that a girl passenger in the bus complained to the conductor that the accused was harassing her during the journey.

The conductor took him to task, and as soon as the bus arrived at the service bus stand, he along with other people handed over Yogish to a nearby police station.

As news spread, a large crowd gathered at the spot, but the situation was under control.

On receiving information, the Hoysala police arrived and took away Yogish and handed him over to the Udupi town police.

However, no formal complaint has been filed yet.

    Hello Jossey,

First you respect Law of the Land, he may be a chaddi or Pant, but guilty should be punished. while raising up these kind of issues do not criticize any community or organisation.

I think people from Udupi are well civilized whereas the saffron terrorists in Mangalore are paid and asked to atrocities on minorities. Strange that Police in Mangalore is not taking action on these terrorists instead they file complain against the person who is on receiving end. Are Police in Mangalore working to appease saffron goondas. Where is Mr. Murugan who has promised to bring peace to the region and punishing moral police. Why cant he take action on the animals for mishandling one person who was helping a girl from other community. Is there any Rule in the constitution or Police that people from different communities should not talk. Why police is allowing saffron goondas to take law into their hand. In this case, it will be better to shut down all the police stations. It is shame on the part of Home Ministry in Karnataka for having no law for goondaism. It will be better to curb it now before common public also take law in their hand and hit back these goondas.

What a double standard by right wing activists??? In mangalore, for talking to a girl from other community, youth was manhandled, stripped, tied to pole and beaten up...Here for harassing a girl...nothing..Truly members of Udipi unit are more graceful and educated and know the law and good that he has been handed over to police which should be the case...

Speaking of double standards - please dont apply complaints of double standards where applicable. A fair and equal society is also what I fully support. But ask one community also about why women in that community cannot walk out freely, or need to cover their faces too when they move out. Is that equal and fair standards?

    Brother
In Islam and Christianity it is ordered by our creator Almighty to cover women from head and draw a veal so she will be graceful and do not expose herself in public
This is the case even now among many Hindu communities as we see gujarathi marwadi Hindu women fully cover their face
And you Christian missionaries always cover themselves
If women cover themselves crimes will be less and chances of troubling them is less as you can't make out she is girl or granny

    ibrahim,

Please keep your misogynistic and sexist attitudes to yourself. Stop treating women as cattle. They are not the property of men. This is 2015. Equality should be a norm now.

DisAgree [1] Agree [4] Report Abuse

  • No really, Udupi

    Wed, Aug 26 2015

Sorry, this is not about Christian or Muslim or Hindu. If covering face is modesty, why only for women. Why not men too?
