Mangaluru: Attavar incident brought shame to DK district - Central Muslim Committee

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (DV)

Mangaluru, Aug 27: The Central Muslim Committee, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, on Thursday August 27 condemned the incident of immoral rowydism at Attavar recently where a man was stripped, tied to a pole and assaulted in full public view.

Addressing a press meet here, vice-president of the committee Ibrahim Kodijal said, "We strongly condemn the brutal attack on Shabbir (name changed). This incident is a blow to our culture, Constitution and also to religions of Hindus and Muslims. No one should take law into one's hands. This was an inhuman act where the youth was attacked and stripped, and we condemn it strongly.

"This incident has brought shame to our district. It has become a news even in other countries like Pakistan too. Mangaluru is a developing city and these types of communal disruptions will hinder its development. This attack is anti-Constitutional and uncultured," he said.

"We should live as children of the same mother, with peace and harmony. Bajrang Dal and VHP youths should understand the esssence of Hinduism and the Constitution. Such incidents are do much harm to the district," he added.

He also urged the Muslim community not to get provoked or react. "Muslims youths should not take law into their hands. Peaceful protest is fine, but nobody should get provoked," he urged.

"Soon after this incident, district incharge minister Ramanath Rai contacted the home minister and the chief minister and also called up the police commissioner and urged them to take immediate action against the culprits," he said.

"Youths between 18 to 25 years have been arrested for this crime. All parties and religious leaders should guide youngsters to the right path when they are misled.

"Irrespective of political party, religion or organization should condemn this incident considering the victim as an Indian and human being. The police department and government have been successful in arresting the accused and preventing further incidents," he added.

"The victim was not only stripped and assaulted, but they also insulted his religion. This is a grave blunder. Severe punishment should be meted out to the culprits," he demanded.

Asked if the incident was a reflection of the failure of the state Congress government, he said, "Not at all. The government and the police have taken immediate action in the case. It is not a failure of the government at all. When BJP was ruling in the state, the number of moral policing incidents were more, but after Congress came to power, such incidents have reduced considerably."

When a reporter pointed out that as per the Karnataka Komu Souharda Vedike, there were 130 incidents of moral policing during BJP's tenure in the state, but 169 such incidents in just two-and-a-half years of Congress rule, Kodijal Ibrahim rejected the statistics and said, "I do not know about the numbers, but I can say that the Congress government has prevented such incidents as far as possible."

A heated discussion followed between the reporters and the committee members. Secretary of the committee Aslam intervened and said, "We came here only to condemn the incident and we do not want to politicize the issue."

First ask your sangh parivar coached youngsters to stop looking at everybody with hatred just because he belongs to a different religion. Then ask the local press not to fan communal propaganda in the guise of majoritarianism. No use lecturing others when one's own goons are the root cause of the problem here

There are many cases where Hindus are killed or thrashed for simply talking to Muslim girls.

Now, these people are making big issue when Muslim youth is thrashed for molesting a girl.

They want to gain mileage from both.

We should put an end to this.

Don't speak lies ... CCTV video shows that she was sitting in the car ,
If you see new whatsapp video you can clearly see that , BD goondas shouting at the girl "will you go ? Was he giving new car party to you ? , are you not ashamed"
You don't need to be intelligent to know the truth behind this incident .....
We have faith in police system , they investigate and give justice to the victim ....

And about the "Muslim Community" , it's a very peaceful call they have made to Muslim youths , not to retaliate .... You should be happy for that .....

A lady saying she was "forced into a car" when she herself has acknowledged she went willingly that day, and took lifts with him regularly? why should he force her in the car in that case?
The same lady was pleading with the goons to save him, and suddenly is asked to come up with another story in a press conference arranged by BD?
The same story where we are told she did not witness the beating but there are videos showing her present? Please tell your BD buddies that when you come up with a story, at least come up with a story that is believable

Dear Central Muslim Committee, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district:

In stead of blaming Hindu youths, please take following steps for the welfare of your community:

    1. Adopt family planning so that you can concentrate on your children

    2. Conduct personality building and moral camps to your youth so that they do not become criminals

    3. Stop cruelty to animals and have soft eating habits

    4. Do not support your youth when they commit crime

    5. Womanising is against Islam. Condemn the act of Shabbir, before condemning Hindu youths

Please note that the Hindu youths are reacting to the immoral activities. If immoral activities are stopped by taking strict action, why Hindu youths will risk their future and attack Muslims?

First clean your house and then see how situation will become normal.

Mr Dayanand, since you have started the free unsolicited advice service, I have some for you too. Please read with an open mind.

1- Love for cattle is fine, but learn to respect human beings first. No point in loving animals if that love makes you behave like a carnivore in front of fellow human beings

2- Find jobs for your friends whose only job seems to loiter at junctions and peep into vehicles trying to find out who is talking to who

3- Take responsibility for the goons who have destroyed the reputation of is district by humiliating and abusing people just because they don't like their religion

4- Stop resorting to lies and canard just because you want to cover up an embarrassing incident involving eyes your friendly goons - such as arranging a press conference in a BD office, concocting a story full of holes, and expecting us to believe it. Learn to acknowledge when your friends commit crimes

5- before you point fingers at others, open your eyes to criminals among your own, of which there is no shoe, if ony you know how to read a newspaper

6- Don't expect others to follow your eating habits just because you don't like theirs. Just like they respect your habits, learn to respect theirs too. If you find this impossible, try going trsip outside the country to refresh your knowledge about other cultures and eating habits

Lastly learn to treat fellow Indians and Indians, who deserve respect irrespective of religion, just as you expect them to respect yours

Moral of the story is, it is not about BJP or Congress, depending on how best the Government is handing law and order situation. They knows Siddu is sleeping, let's take the law into the hand. I witnessed this many times, sometimes this is the natural reaction from people Udupi/South Canara District irrespective of the party, community if the girl has been harassed by guy and she was looking for help. Recently bus conductor from Kundapur area was beaten up badly for misbehaving with girl in bus.
