President pays tribute at Amar Jawan Jyoti


New Delhi, Aug 28 (IANS): President Pranab Mukherjee on Friday paid tributes at the Amar Jawan Jyoti here to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1965 India-Pakistan war.

The president laid a wreath at the memorial dedicated to the martyrs at India Gate, a World War I monument in the heart of Delhi.

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and Minister of State for Defence Rao Inderjit Singh were also present at the ceremony.

Army chief General Dalbir Singh Suhag, navy chief Admiral R.K. Dhowan and Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha also paid their tributes.
