Mangaluru, Aug 28: Tulunada Rakshana Vedike has revealed its plans including prayers to intensify fight against Yettinahole integrated drinking water project. This was revealed on Friday, August 28 in city.

"In an initial stage of the protest against the proposed Yettinahole integrated drinking water project,Tulunada rakshana vedhike will visit the religious centers of different faiths in the city and offer prayer to punish those political representatives and officers who kept the people of Dakshina Kannada in dark about the project and who made money by spreading lies to the people." said Yogish Shetty of Tulunada rakshana vedhike.

"We will begin our protest on September 3 from Mangaldevi Temple at around 11am followed by prayers in Hazarath Sayyad Bibhi Dargha,Rosario Church and Koragajja Temple in Kuthar. Also we will hold awareness campaign against the project through Padayatra on September 3 which will commence from the premises of Venkatramana Temple in Carstreet. Handbills on the awareness will also be distributed. On September 18, a chariot creating awareness on Yettinahole integrated drinking water project will tour all taluks in the district." Yogish added.

Yogish also said that Tulunada Rakshana Vedhike will join and support the national highway bandh on September 15.

Speaking on this occasion, social activist M G Hegde said "Many taluks in the districts are suffering without drinking water. First provide water to the taluks of the Dakshina Kannada which has scarcity of drinking of water before carrying water from here. In the last five years Rs 10 crore has been spent for the drinking projects in Belthangady taluk alone. Even if you do not implement smart city project, that is fine. But do not make a draught city. People need not expect the support from the political representatives. They should involve themselves and make it a major campaign. Various community organizations in the district should come forward to take up this issue and join the cause to save river Nethravathi."

Commenting on District Kannada sahitya sammelana organized by the Dakshina Kannada Sahitya Parishat which is scheduled to take place in Kateel, he said that literature should focus on the problems of the society. "In future we may form Karavali sahitya parishad with only cause to save Nethravathi river." Hegde added.

In a strong warning to the administration, Hegde asked to organize public hearing of the affected people of project with the experts. He said if the public hearing is not held, indefinite harathal will be observed in the district in coming days.

He requested Dr Veerendra Heggade to ask the political representatives to organize the public hearing the city regarding the proposed Yethinahole project.

The biggest problem of Tulu Nadu is that, we lack self respect. We did not create Tulu Nadu rajya during Independence, We are destroying Tulu and have given no. 1 postion to kannada which is an inferior language. Our politicians are boneless. Our people have become cultureless. The entire population should be united and separate Tulu Nadu state should be formed.

The generous people of DK are not against sharing water with their brethren beyond the Ghats. What we are worried about is diverting the course of a naturally flowing river, which will result in adverse environmental consequences in the long run. Veerappa Moily won the Chickaballpur seat on the promise of providing Nethravati water to the people of his constituency. Sadananda Gowda later approved the project since it involves crores of rupees. It seems both of them are hand in glove. They are least bothered about the ecological imbalance it will create in the region. Instead efforts should be made to create more reservoirs to store rainwater instead of spending crores on this dangerous project.

Congress started and BJP gave approval for the project. It was Veerappa Moily & Sadanada Gowda who gave the Nod. People of Mangalore , wake up and see that Congress and BJP and the supporters come to ask votes drive them away. BBMP has taught a Good lesson to congress. But BJP should have been taught a lesson. Your protest will not serve the purpose. Go where they have started the work and beat them up the contractors and drive away them. If you shout sitting in Mangalore, Puttur. Sullia no action will be taken .Work will go On. Where is Nalini Kumar. where is Lobo.

When the extended Thumbe vented dam/increase of height, we, the Mangaloreans will have sufficient water stored in the River.

Moreover, God has blessed us Later rain / Hingaaru Male which will fill our rivers. If not sufficient we have another dam of reliance which had released water to Thumbe dam for shortage of water in case it occurs.

The Kumudhavathi and Netravati rivers water is simply wasted during the rainy season to the sea and that water is diverted to our own brothers and sisters to quench their thirst.

In my opinion nobody should do politics in this case.

This project was handled without political differences of both bjp and congress in broad mind in consultations with the experts project has been passed and will be implemented. Political parties may come and go. However the good work will be conceived and remain its character for generations to come similar to Kaveri river dam/KRS Dam of Sir, M. Vishveshwaraya.

This Tulu Nadu Rakshana Veideke is a Bhakshana and Rakhshasa veideke are aiming for their selfish veidike and not for TuluNadu.

    Mr. Gonsalves,

Please do not make comments off the cuff. You are no environmental expert to give authoritative suggestions. No one has conducted an Environmental Impact assessment of this project because there is a loophole in the law that allows projects meant for drinking water without an EIA. Western Ghats are classified as a Bio Diversity reserve and come under most endangered regions in the country. Playing with nature and creating an imbalance in the ecology will bring untold misery to the entire state. If you damage the forests and the ecology where the rivers take birth where is the question of storing water in Thumbe dam.

Environment is for humans and the humans have to preserve it.

In a growing population like polygamy and Sakshi Maharaaj entice hindus to produce more and more from the where the water comes to the drought places to feed their children. Do you want your brothers and sisters to go hungry and die.

Ones humans die then what for is your environment???!!!

Forget your politics and selfishness so that we all live amicably well with our brothers and sisters.

Why then simply making agitations to fight when all the arrangements are made to implement the project.
