Himachal Congress protests price rise

Shimla, Aug 28 (IANS): The Himachal Pradesh Congress on Friday criticised the "failure" of the Narendra Modi government in controlling price rise and corruption in the country.

A delegation led by state Congress president Sukhvinder Sukhu submitted a memorandum to President Pranab Mukherjee through Governor Acharya Devvrat in Shimla.

"Prices of onion have skyrocketed, and at present are being sold at Rs.80 per kg. The price of onions was Rs.18 per kg in 2014. It has made onions out of the reach of the common man and they are not able to afford the basic food item in the country," Sukhu said in a statement.
