Delhi water minister seeks FIR against Sheila Dikshit

New Delhi, Aug 28 (IANS): Delhi Water Minister Kapil Mishra wants former chief minister Sheila Dikshit to be booked for allegedly causing a loss of Rs.400 crore to the state exchequer.

The case dates to 2012 when alleged irregularities were found in the procurement of water tankers by the Delhi Jal Board.

Mishra has sent a government report to Chief Minister Kejriwal stating that Dikshit, during the chairmanship of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB), "consistently bypassed laws and rules", causing a loss of almost Rs.400 crore to the department.

In a letter to Kejriwal, Mishra said the report by The Fact Finding Committee on Water Tanker Distribution Management System "is self-explanatory and exposes how the then DJB chairman and chief minister Sheila Dikshit and other board members consistently bypassed laws and rules, causing a loss of almost Rs.400 crore to DJB".

Mishra, the present DJB chairman, further said an FIR should be immediately lodged by the government based on this report against all those involved in the scam.

Calling it a big "expose", Mishra said attempts would be made to destabilise the Delhi government and unseat him.
