Mangalore, Jun 22: The monsoon has arrived late in the coastal Karnataka than in the past years. However, ever since it started raining almost a week ago, there has been no stop for it.

It has been raining cats and dogs in the coastal belt.  It has already resulted in sea erosion, damage to property and even life in a few places.  Some of the low-lying areas are already flooded.

Similar situation has now been reported from Maria Bakery Lane at Kayarmajal near Pumpwell here.  Owing to a blocked drainage, several houses have been inundated in the area. 

Daijiworld correspondent who visited the place said that about twelve houses of the vicinity have been surrounded with knee-deep water for the last two days.

 The gushing water has inundated houses of Somanath, Eshwar, Yadav, Rukmaya, Rosy, Surekha, Lancy, Yogish, Subbalakshmi, Bhaskar Suvarna, Varijakshi, Poovamma.   The residents also face the unbearable stench emitting from overflowing drains.
