Mangaluru: New Tulu Sahitya academy office inaugurated

Mangaluru , Aug 30: District in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai inaugurated office of the Tulu Sahitya academy at Tulu Bhavan in Urwa Store here on Sunday August 30.





















After inaugurating the office Ramanath Rai said "Majority of people speak Tulu in Tulunadu. Many eminent personalities and scholars have contributed to the filed of Tulu literature. The Tulu literature is growing in a good manner. There are more than 1 crore Tulu speaking people in the world. Tuluvas are always creative and have given a lot to the society. We should protect the culture heritage of this land which has came from our forefathers."

He also urged that youths to come forward to take the 'chariot' of Tulunadu culture and heritage, along upholding social harmony, unity and diversity in the society."Tulunadu is always Tulunadu. There is no alternative for it. We should work for a good society without any compromise" Rai added.

Speaking on this occasion MLC Ivan D' Souza demanded that Konkani and Beary sahitya academies also should get buildings of Rs 5 crore each. He also requested deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim to provide full fledged furniture to the Tulu Sahitya academy office. "Our voice will be strong while demanding the Tulu language to be included in the 8th schedule." Ivan said.

Deputy Commissioner AB Ibrahim who expressed unhappiness over the situation of Dakshina Kannada said "Unfortunately Dakshina Kannada has been identified for its negatives instead of the positive issues.". He also asked people to take oath that they will live according to the rules of democracy and will not provoke or support anti- social activities in any form.

MLAs J R Lobo, Moideen Bhava, Mayor Jacintha Alfred, Vaman Nandavara, Palthadi Ramakrishna Achar and others were present on this occasion.
